Once a season, it seems!

Wed Nov 11, 2009, 6:51 PM
Greetings, true believers!

Wow, been awhile. Still can't believe its November!

I've been away for awhile, but for good reasons (mostly). As of a few months back I discovered that I am able to finally graduate from KSU this semester, and have been trying to prepare for my future a bit along with getting my final classes out of the way, including a Capstone Theory class where I need to incorperate all I've learned from my communication classes in the past. Has been a bit rough, but I'm doing well so far, so I am confident that my abilities will see me through this.

I have also been looking into internships around, and through my father, a Chimney Sweep of all professions, have been able to get my foot in the door at a place that helps film and create commercials! Nothing is set in stone yet, as my schedule is still a bit chaotic at the moment, but I have met some people who work there, and one in particular that my dad performed a job for is interested in having me work under him. Plus I would get to work with camera equipment right away, as that is his field, instead of wasting time taking out garbage or other less important or interesting responsibilities, thus helping me learn more about what I want to do with myself in a job in the media industry.

The most important thing I've gotten out of it though, is the knowledge that I should not compromise on something once I have decided what I want to do for my career in this industry. The guy who I will probably be working under told me to stick with it, no matter what, if its what I want to do, and to keep at it. This industry is tough, and will have many downs before ups are realized, so some people get discouraged and leave as a result. If I keep at it and keep doing well at what I want to do, then I will surely be able to realize that as well as obtain a job to match it.

Or so I've been told anyway, and though I've heard it before, it means so much more coming from someone who has worked in this industry. I really do hope things will work out, though!

Now lets see, other events...Dragon Con was good, got to see Patrick Stewart. Star Trek isn't my thing, but was still interesting, and he's done other good work. Anime Weekend Atlanta was great, as I ran around all three days like I was in some kind of madcap sugar high, wearing one of :iconneon-juma:'s Jenny backpacks, AND saw a terrible anime that I hadn't seen in over 10 years, as well as having the knowledge to realize that it really WAS terrible even if I didn't realize it the first time I saw it. It was great fun!

Saw my friend John who came back from Japan for a month. That was fun, as we goofed around like we used to even though it had been more than a year since we had the chance to hang out. Saw the G.I. Joe movie, and it was pretty good, for an action-type film anyway. The action scenes were pretty sweet and fast paced, but the story took itself too seriously, for me anyway. I remember the cartoon best when I was a kid, involving hypnotic 80's bands, fast-food chains primed to shoot targets all over the world, and Shipwreck always mouthing-off whenever he had the chance. I hope he's in the next one, dangit!

Regarding other characters from the movie, Snake Eyes. His lips on his mask thing....egghhh. Yeah, that felt weird for me.

Anyways, that's enough for now I think. May add more to this later on, we'll see.
